The Last Time Machine
by Roger Johnson
Union artillery captain Daniel Hilton is guarding a fortune in wartime gold when a machine out of nowhere tears him from a Civil War battlefield and hurls him a century and a half into the future. There he becomes the captive of Jessica Rothman—a ruthless young tech heiress whose time machine can reach back through history to loot the Confederate treasury itself. Marooned in a dystopia of driverless cars, drones, martial law, and hollow faith, the God-fearing captain must decide whom he can trust, what history is worth changing, and whether some things—love, conscience, free will—hold firm across the centuries. Blending Civil War history, near-future speculation, and a quiet Christian heart, The Last Time Machine is a fast, inventive, and surprisingly moving adventure across time.
