Farmstand Companion
by Jane Morton, Marianne K. Preston
Companion
We would like to think that this farmstand vegetable cookbook will encourage you to seek out a farmstand in your own home town and, when traveling in a rural or urban area, to stop at a farmstand or greenmarket. Take time to talk to the stand owner, learn about the different varieties of vegetables he offers and how to prepare them. You might just find yourself chatting with the produce grower, gaining useful information about the produce you are buying and then even sharing a recipe or two. Enjoy the ambiance of the farmstand and give a thought to the needs, the toil and the entrepreneurship that brought the legendary farmstand to the position it holds today, for it is a small but very integral part of our American history.
The recipes in this book will inspire you not only to “eat your veggies” but to “love your veggies.”
