Time Machine 19: Death Mask of Pancho Villa

When the peasants and townspeople of Mexico revolted against the corrupt government from 1910-1923, their leader was the legendary Pancho Villa. Your mission is to go back in time and find the missing plaster cast that was made of Villa's face right before his funeral, and make sure it finds its way safely through time.

The Time Machine series challenges young readers to use their imagination and decision-making skills to write their own story. Options in the text allow readers to choose any path they like within the plot. Readers must draw on background information about the period to make the right choices. This makes the series a great educational device for youngsters to learn about history and all the different cultures, events, and periods that shaped it.

GEORGE GUTHRIDGE has sold two novels and more than fifty short stories and novelettes to such magazines and anthologies as Analogue, Asimov’s Fantasy and Science Fiction, Stardate, Nebula Award Stories, and Year’s Best Science Fiction. In 1982, he was a Hugo finalist and runner-up for the Nebula Award. A former science magazine editor and professor of English, he currently lives in a Yupik Eskimo village on an island in the Bering Sea where he divides his time between teaching and writing.

KENNETH HUEY is an illustrator, designer, and writer. He is a past president of the Dallas Society of Illustrators and his work has appeared in comic books throughout the country.
