Beth Norvell: Second Take (Illustrated)
by Randall Parrish
Second Take #2
“Second in this innovative new series, it reteams Parrish and Osterman as they strive to outdo each other when it comes to telling a titillating yarn…”
- Byron Rupert McCafferty, Online Critics Corner
This retold tale can be described as “An Erotic Western Thriller.” It represents a new literary form, a hybrid book that is the posthumous collaboration between a popular western romanticist and a modern-day “book doctor.” This is the story of Beth Norvell, a mysterious actress playing the Old West with an acting troupe. Stranded in a small Colorado mining town, she falls for an adventurous mining engineer posing as a stagehand … while coming face-to-face with the husband who had abandoned her, now a gambler who owns a stake in the Gayety Opera House. Sparks (and bullets) fly as cowboys, cardsharps, miners, and a Mexican spitfire collide in this erotic tale.
About the Author
Although many of Randall Parrish’s book are about the Old West, he was a Midwesterner born in Rose Cottage in Kewanee, Illinois. After graduating from law school, he joined a firm in Wichita, Kansas, and eventually became city attorney. Switching career, he became a reporter with the Rocky Mountain News, the start of a long career with various newspapers. While working with the Associated Press, he published his first work of fiction, When Wilderness Was King. Numerous popular novels followed.
Howard Lowell Osterman has a fondness for westerns, science fiction and horror fiction. Raised in the south, he worked for several newspapers before becoming a popular writer-for-hire, working with book packagers and custom publishers. With a growing reputation as a “book doctor,” he has taken on a number of editing assignments, but prefers writing original fiction. His chilling novel Short Changed is the first entry in a trilogy. He is the editor responsible for the Zane Grey’s Two-Gunned Tales anthologies.
